Falling Behind On Friday - Torn By Cat Clarke

Falling Behind On Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Moirae (the fates) book reviews, where we are to share a book that has been on our TBR pile for a long time.

So the book I have fallen behind on is:

Four girls. One dead body. A whole lot of guilt.

Alice King isn’t expecting the holiday of a lifetime when she sets off with her classmates on a trip to the Scottish wilderness, but she’s not exactly prepared for an experience beyond her darkest nightmares…

Alice and her best friend Cass are stuck in a cabin with Polly, the social outcast, and Rae, the moody emo-girl. Then there’s Tara – queen of mean. Powerful, beautiful and cruel, she likes nothing better than putting people down.

Cass decides it’s time to teach Tara a lesson she’ll never forget. And so begins a series of events that will change the lives of these girls forever...

A compelling story of guilty secrets, troubled friendship and burgeoning love.

Cat Clarke has to be one of my favourite Authors, I loved Entangled and Undone and I can't wait to read Torn! So why it is still sitting on my shelf after such a long time?... I have no idea! I am determined to read it within the next few months and I know it will be an instant favourite!

Wattpad in its own words ….

Wattpad is the world's largest community for discovering and sharing stories. It's a new form of entertainment connecting readers and writers through storytelling, and best of all, it's entirely free. With thousands of new stories added every day, an incredibly active community of readers, and the ability to read on your computer, phone, or tablet, Wattpad is the only place that offers a truly social, and entirely mobile reading experience.

I love Wattpad, it’s a great way for up and coming authors to share their works with a wide audience. I stumbled across Wattpad a while ago whilst looking for free books to read on my tablet and thought I would give it ago. I have found so many books I have thoroughly enjoyed and some of the books I have read on Wattpad have now been published so I feel privileged to have read them first, where it all started on Wattpad.

Some people share their books a chapter at a time, which can be frustrating because I can get hooked easily and want to know more of the story…but it is a way to keep you interested and needing more. Others have the whole book uploaded ready for you to read and enjoy.

Wattpad is a fantastic community, there are thousand of stories to dig through, categorized into genres so you can find a book to suit your mood and add to your library. I recommend it for people looking for a free book to read, there are some real gems on there and some extremely talented people.

Below are some of my favourite books I have read on Wattpad, I hope you enjoy!

After Chloe Pryce's final careless mistake, she's forced to move from sunny California to live with her father in rural Alaska. Where Chloe is greeted by the town's finest and fiercest boy; Grayson Holtz. But Polar, Alaska has it's own fair share of dark secrets and Chloe - well she's about to get caught up in it all...

Alaska is the first book in the Wolfstate Chronicles by Bella Johnson. I had just finished The Wolfs Of Mercy Falls Trilogy and was looking for a new wolf story to continue my addiction to the genre and I found it in Alaska. I followed the book as it was shared a chapter at a time and thought it was an amazing read! I found myself counting down until the next chapter was released, it was that good! This book has now been published and book Two Texas is up on Wattpad - I am only half way through but am already enjoying it!

Hi,my name is Tessa O'Connell and I know a boy who:
-Frustrates me to no end
-Argues with me all the time
-Likes going through my underwear drawer
-Steals my (supposedly cleverly hidden) stash of Kit Kats
-Calls me shortcake even though I'm 5'7
-Makes me cry like a baby
-Has an unhealthy obsession with my personal life
BUT he also happens to be my guardian angel and somehow I've started to (almost) like him...SHOCKER?

A lot of people will think this book is the cliche girl falls in love with the bad boy but it is so much more than that! This book is well written, funny, romantic and sweet and you can't help but love Cole - hes an amazing character! This book isn't even finished yet, but I am still following it and reading every new chapter because I am so invested in the story and the characters!

Ava is ripped from her life by a sadistic priest on her way home from school. He leads a very sinister and secret life. She is forced to live in a room with his son, trapped in a house of hell. Day by day her innocence is torn apart, but despite witnessing horrific events, she finds herself caring for the boy with dark secrets. To survive, Ava must choose between her freedom and love. What will she choose?

His To Keep was a creepy and dark and unlike anything I has ever read before. I honestly didn't think it would appeal to me, but I couldn't stop reading because I liked the dark love story!

Sixteen-year old Jackie Howard knows nothing about her new guardian Katherine Walter when she moves from New York to Colorado. After discovering that Katherine has twelve boys, Jackie fears that living in the Walter house isn't going to be easy. It's just icing on the cake that the boys look like Abercrombie models...

I didn't expect much when I started to read this book, but I was surprised it was fun, had heart, good characters and a great love story. I have read other books with a similar story on Wattpad but this has to be my favourite and would happily read it again. I also have read the sequel and enjoyed it too!

I highly recommend checking out Wattpad, you never know you might find a new favourite!

Waiting On Wednesday - My Last Kiss

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking The Spine.

I can't wait to read:

Expected publication: June 10th 2014

Cassidy Haines remembers her first kiss vividly. It was on the old covered bridge the summer before her freshman year with her boyfriend of three years, Ethan Keys. But her last kiss—the one she shared with someone at her seventeenth birthday party the night she died—is a blur. Cassidy is trapped in the living world, not only mourning the loss of her human body, but left with the grim suspicion that her untimely death wasn’t a suicide as everyone assumes. She can’t remember anything from the weeks leading up to her birthday and she’s worried that she may have betrayed her boyfriend.

If Cassidy is to uncover the truth about that fateful night and make amends with the only boy she’ll ever love, she must face her past and all the decisions she made—good and bad—that led to her last kiss.

I really like the sound of this book and the mystery within it. I love stories where you find out what happened at the same time the main character does. I'm sure it won't disappoint!

Top Ten Tuesday - Top Ten Series I Haven't Finished Yet

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke And The Bookish. This week we get to choose from a past subject and I chose Top Ten series I haven't finished yet.

I decided on this topic as I have so many unfinished series that I need to finish! My trouble with series is I read the first book when the series comes out and then by the time I have the rest of the books in the series I have forgotten what has happened in previous books and need to re-read to refresh my memory. I just have trouble getting round to the re-reading as I have so many new books I want to read for the first time!

1. The Chemical Garden Trilogy

I bought book one Wither in a second hand book store purely on how stunning the cover was and I loved the book. It became an instant favourite so I ran out to buy book two Fever when I had finished the first and again loved it. I waited and waited for book three Sever to be released and bought it when released, however I have yet to read it still, I'm worried it won't live up to my expectations..I guess I won't know if I don't read it though!

2. The Matched Series

I really enjoyed book One Matched and have the second book waiting on my shelf to be read, I just haven't gotten round to reading it. I still need to purchase book Three but I am going to wait to read book Two to make sure I enjoy it and want to continue with the series.

3. Starcrossed Trilogy

I had the first Two books of this series on my shelf for the longest time and recently sat down and read them and I am frustrated I didn't read them sooner, I loved them! I purchased the third book and have started it but have been getting distracted by other usual! But I am determined to finish very soon as I can't wait to see how it all ends.

4. The Dark Divine Series

I own both of the first Two books and read them very quickly as I thoroughly enjoyed them. I am however struggling to get my hand on the third book in the UK so it's very frustrating!

5. Hush, Hush Series

I have only read the first Two books, I need to re-read them before finishing the series. I liked the first Two books so I want them to be fresh in my memory!

6. The Immortals Series

I don't even know what books I have read and finished in this series, I know I have read Evermore and I'm pretty sure I have read I haven't been reading them in order. I need to read from book One again (and in the right order! Oops!) to make my mind up on this series.

7. The Mara Dyer Series

I cannot recommend The Unbecoming Of Mara Dyer enough! Its one of my favourite books and I can't wait to read the second book! I own an Ebook version but I prefer physical copies of books so I think that is why I haven't read it yet. At least I have until November to finish it in time for the release of The Retribution Of Mara Dyer.

8. Fallen Series

I own all of these books but have only read the first Two. It's a series I enjoyed and really want to continue with but as I said before, I need to re-read the first two books so I can enjoy the series as a whole.

9. The Vampire Diaries

I have trouble with this series, I have read the First book but I have had trouble getting into it. I love the TV Series, so I do hope I can give this series another try and hopefully it will have me hooked!

10. The Morganville Vampire Series

I own Twelve of the books in this series and have read Nine...I'm rather impressed with how many I have read! I can't keep up with this series and I don't even know how many have been released at the moment! I read the first Seven books in a week and it became one of my favourite series, its fun, full of Vampires with a good love story!

Falling Behind On Friday

Falling Behind On Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Moirae (the fates) book reviews, where we are to share a book that has been on our TBR pile for a long time.

So the book I have fallen behind on is:

The year is 2009. Nineteen-year-old Jackson Meyer is a normal guy... he's in college, has a girlfriend... and he can travel back through time. But it's not like the movies - nothing changes in the present after his jumps, there's no space-time continuum issues or broken flux capacitors - it's just harmless fun.

That is... until the day strangers burst in on Jackson and his girlfriend, Holly, and during a struggle with Jackson, Holly is fatally shot. In his panic, Jackson jumps back two years to 2007, but this is not like his previous time jumps. Now he's stuck in 2007 and can't get back to the future.

Desperate to somehow return to 2009 to save Holly but unable to return to his rightful year, Jackson settles into 2007 and learns what he can about his abilities.

But it's not long before the people who shot Holly in 2009 come looking for Jackson in the past, and these "Enemies of Time" will stop at nothing to recruit this powerful young time-traveler. Recruit... or kill him.

Piecing together the clues about his father, the Enemies of Time, and himself, Jackson must decide how far he's willing to go to save Holly... and possibly the entire world.

I have had this book on my book shelf for about Two years now! I bought it because the cover caught my eye and I liked the sound of a love story with time travel! Unfortunately other books have got in the way and I haven't got round to reading it yet, even though I am rather excited to see what it has to offer! I hope to get round to reading it soon, until then it still looks pretty on my shelf!

Waiting On Wednesday - Dream Boy

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking The Spine

I can't wait to read:

Expected publication: July 1st 2014

Annabelle Manning feels like she’s doing time at her high school in Chilton, Virginia. She has her friends at her lunchtime table of nobodies. What she doesn’t have are possibilities. Or a date for Homecoming. Things get more interesting at night, when she spends time with the boy of her dreams. But the blue-eyed boy with the fairytale smile is just that—a dream. Until the Friday afternoon he walks into her chemistry class.

One of friends suspects he’s an alien. Another is pretty sure it’s all one big case of deja vu. While Annabelle doesn’t know what to think, she’s willing to believe that the charming Martin Zirkle may just be her dream come true. But as Annabelle discovers the truth behind dreams—where they come from and what they mean—she is forced to face a dark reality she had not expected. More than just Martin has arrived in Chilton. As Annabelle learns, if dreams can come true, so can nightmares.

What first caught my eye of Dream Boy was the beautiful cover, I love the colours and the image of the tree. This book sounds like my kind of book, full of mystery, the supernatural & romance..the perfect formula for a great book! I love the tag line of "If dreams can come true, so can nightmares." I really can't wait to read this book and I'm sure it won't disappoint.

Top Ten Tuesday - Ten Reasons I Love Being A Reader/Blogger

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke And The Bookish

This week the chosen topic is top Ten reasons why I love being a reader/blogger, so here it goes!

I love being a blogger because...I have met lovely people from all around the world who are like minded.

I love being a reader because...when I read a book, I loose myself in the world the author has created and for those few hours anything can happen in that world.

I love being a blogger has made me more confident, it took me a long time to finally start a blog and I've had lots of lovely comments which has made me feel welcome and more confident in my writing and in myself.

I love being a blogger because...I like finding out about new books to read and series I should add to my ever growing collection of books from other readers.

I love being a blogger because...I can share my love of books with other people and share my opinions and thoughts on books with the rest of the blogging community and see what other people are recommending to read!

I love being a reader because...I love nothing more than going on a book buying spree! I love buying second hand books, that someone else has read and loved before me.

I love being a reader matter how ill I feel or how bad my day has been I can always switch off with a nice cup of tea and a good book.

I love being a blogger because...I always have something to do! How can I ever be bored when I have so many blogs to read and catch up on!

I love being a reader because...I love the feeling when the next installment of a series I love comes out (happy dance!) and I can finally catch up with some of my favourite characters.

I love being a blogger because...its just pure fun!

Book Haul - 2

Today I have another book haul for you. Even though I have been unwell this week I still managed to go on a hunt for some new books to read and found some more bargains!

Goddess By Josephine Angelini

I have just finished the first two books, Starcrossed and Dreamless, in this amazing series so I just had to buy the concluding part of the trilogy to see how it all ends! £3 for a brand new book...count me in!

Torn By Amanda Hocking

I received the first book in this series for Christmas and have yet to read it but I couldn't leave the second book torn in my local used book store when it was sitting there on the shelf for a whole £1!

Gone By Michael Grant

When I was in my local charity shop rummaging through the books, this one caught my eye. After reading the blurb I had to buy it and was excited to get home and start reading it (so far I have not been disappointed!) After some research I discovered its the first book in a series I had seen about but never took any interest in because I didn't find the UK cover appealing. I really do prefer the US cover to this series than the UK version, but it just goes to show you can't judge a book by its cover! All this time I did and missed out on a great series!

UK Cover:

On loan from my local Library:

Heard so many good things about this book so I am really excited to read it!

New Ebook series:

I had heard good things about this series so thought I would download it and give it ago and I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it as it is very different from what I usually read.

Falling Behind On Friday

Falling Behind On Friday is a new weekly meme hosted by Moirae (the fates) book reviews, this week we are to share a book that has been on our TBR pile for a long time.

So the book I have fallen behind on is:

What if your entire world was built on a lie?

Wendy Everly knew she was different the day her mother tried to kill her and accused her of having been switched at birth. Although certain she’s not the monster her mother claims she is – she does feel that she doesn’t quite fit in...

She’s bored and frustrated by her small town life – and then there’s the secret that she can’t tell anyone. Her mysterious ability – she can influence people’s decisions, without knowing how, or why...

When the intense and darkly handsome newcomer Finn suddenly turns up at her bedroom window one night – her world is turned upside down. He holds the key to her past, the answers to her strange powers and is the doorway to a place she never imagined could exist. Förening, the home of the Trylle.

Finally everything makes sense. Among the Trylle, Wendy is not just different, but special. But what marks her out as chosen for greatness in this world also places her in grave danger. With everything around her changing, Finn is the only person she can trust. But dark forces are conspiring – not only to separate them, but to see the downfall everything that Wendy cares about.

The fate of Förening rests in Wendy’s hands, and the decisions she and Finn make could change all their lives forever...

I have had this book on my shelf for a while now and its just collecting dust..which is a shame as I really look forward to reading it, I just keep forgetting it's there. I am however planning on reading it in the next month, as I already have book 2 - Torn waiting for me after purchasing it recently!

Waiting On Wednesday - The Here And Now

Waiting On Wednesday is hosted by Breaking The Spine

I can't wait to read:
Expected release: April 8th 2014
Description from

Meet seventeen-year-old Prenna James, who immigrated to New York when she was twelve. Except Prenna didn’t come from a different country. She came from a different time—a future where a mosquito-borne illness has mutated into a pandemic, killing millions and leaving the world in ruins.
Prenna and the others who escaped to the present day must follow a strict set of rules: never reveal where they’re from, never interfere with history, and never, ever be intimate with anyone outside their community. Prenna does as she’s told, believing she can help prevent the plague that will one day ravage the earth. But everything changes when she falls for Ethan Jarves.

I have been looking for a new dystopian book to sink my teeth into and this one really caught my attention. I think the story sounds fascinating and I look forward to seeing how time travel and romance work together in this book! I love the cover of The Here And Now, the colours are beautiful and it is so eye catching!
